The Salvation Army can mobilize quickly following major disasters to provide food, water, aid and spiritual care to those affected.

All Salvation Army units have been notified of the potential impacts from Hurricane EARL.  Personnel on the Eastern Shore of Maryland are working with local Emergency Management personnel in preparation for a response if it becomes necessary.

“At this time we are monitoring the weather situation and working with our local personnel to ensure that all equipment and needed supplies are ready in the event that Hurricane Earl affects the residents of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This preparation is being coordinated with county and state emergency management officials”, said Major David Singletary, Emergency Disaster Services Director for the Maryland & West Virginia Division.

The Salvation Army encourages all residents in Earl’s potential path to prepare an emergency supply kit, an evacuation plan and to stay informed of all warnings and potential protective actions. Disaster response professionals in Maryland recommend visiting for tips in developing their individual family preparedness plan.

The Salvation Army asks people who want to help those affected by Hurricane Earl to visit or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY. Monetary donations will be used to meet immediate needs.  The Salvation Army currently is not accepting donations of clothing and furniture for storm victims; however, please continue supporting your local Salvation Army thrift store and the much needed programs your in-kind gifts support.
