Due to the high volume of calls, The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command has now reached capacity for our 2010 Christmas Ministry appointments. However, we are asking those who still need assistance for Christmas gifts and food to leave their name and telephone number,to be put on a waiting list should cancellations occur.

Please call 246-1078 or 346-1134 from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday – Friday.

The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma will continue to take Christmas Ministry applications for seniors from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, October 29.

Every year, thousands of families turn to The Salvation Army for the Angel Tree Christmas Program and for emergency assistance. Families enroll their children, ages 0 to 14, to be placed on the Angel Tree, located every year at Penn Square Mall. Shoppers “adopt” an angel, purchase gifts for that child and return gifts to The Salvation Army. During Christmas, those gifts are distributed to families, along with Christmas food boxes.

For a lot of families, just putting food on the table is a challenge. Providing Christmas joy to their children is beyond their means. The Salvation Army believes every child deserves a happy Christmas morning. Beginning on Nov. 18, shoppers can help make Christmas dreams come true by adopting Angels.

Next week during the Christmas application process, our social services office will provide food boxes and respond to emergency requests.
