Turkey for Tunes! THIS SATURDAY!

Posted: November 4, 2010 in Holiday News, How We Help, News, Uncategorized

The Salvation Army Norman is teaming up with The House FM and Praise 88.7, both statewide non-profit radio stations, to collect turkeys for hungry families and also score some cool tunes.

Listeners are encouraged to come out between 1 and 3 to the Wal-Mart on S. Interstate Dr. on Saturday for the second annual Turkey 4 Tunes! Donate a turkey (the store has some great sales on turkeys that day) and donate it right there to The Salvation Army to get a Christmas CD of your choice from The House FM.

Last year, more than 240 turkeys were donated in nine different locations and listeners were able to get CDs, DVDs and prizes. Truly a win-win for all.

Why are turkeys a big deal?

Because Thanksgiving is a holiday that celebrates all that we are blessed with. For many families in the metro, even a turkey is beyond their financial means as they struggle with job loss, medical issues, poverty or despair. The Salvation Army will provide Thanksgiving Food Boxes to families in need, ensuring that every household will have a dinner to be thankful for on the holidays.

Donating is as easy as… pumpkin pie! While shopping this Saturday at Walmart on S. I-35 in Norman, pick up an extra turkey. Walk outside, donate that turkey to The Salvation Army and choose your favorite CD.

Thanks for helping! Your generosity helps more than you can ever know!
