Salvation Army responds to deadly Oklahoma tornados

Posted: April 15, 2012 in Uncategorized

The Salvation Army Arkansas-Oklahoma Divisional Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team deployed the Enid Salvation Army mobile feeding unit early Sunday morning to respond to a deadly tornado in Woodward, Oklahoma.

Captain John Dancer, Commanding Officer for Enid, reports his team were en route early Sunday morning. Even before the line of storms approached his community, he was responding in the early hours of the morning to a request for assistance.

A first response team is also headed towards Woodward to help assess the situation and determine if additional teams and/or services are needed. The first priority for the short-term aftermath of the storm will focus primarily on immediate needs providing food, hydration, and emotional and spiritual care to impacted individuals and families.

The best way to help survivors and relief workers is to make a financial contribution. Monetary donations allow disaster responders to immediately meet the specific needs of disaster survivors.

The Salvation Army asks people who want to help those affected by disaster to visit www.salvationarmyusa.org or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769.)  Designate “Oklahoma storms” when making your donation.
